Trajectory

I am a senior research engineer at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) mainly developing new infrastructure for European collaborative projects (ELIXIR) in biomedical sciences. I am also a collaborator directing master thesis from the MSc. in Bioinformatics & Biostatitics at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.

Welcome to BSC’s MareNostrum 4

Before turning into a research engineer, my research interests included the study of the relations between environmental factors and internal omic perturbations and the development of applications to integrate multiple layers of molecular data. I followed my 2nd post-doc at the Centre Nacional d’Anàlisi Genòmica (CNAG-CRG) on medical informatics for rare disease dignostic. My 1st post-doc was at the Computational Health Informatics Program, located at Boston Children’s Hospital and the Pediatrics Department of the Harvard Medical School, as a research fellow elucidating the relationship between environmental factors and autism severity. Earlier, I performed my Ph.D. thesis at the Bioinformatic Research Group in Epidemiology from Barcelona Institute for Global Health, as well at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, depicting the impact of ultraviolet light (UV-A + UV-B) on human health, as well as working as a bioinformatic analyst studying the impact of multiple environmental factors on human internal molecular signatures (also known as omic data, including genome, methylome, transcriptome, proteome, and metabolome) within the framework of HELIX | Building the early life exposome.

Formerly turning into research, I studied for my BSc. Computer Engineering at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, as well as my MSc. in Bioinformatics, and worked as a computer engineer and as a software developer at Departament de Telecomunicació i d’Enginyeria de Sistemes from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, at Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE), and at Microsoft’s Rewards.
